With the recent surge of puppy mills, auctions and backyard breeders, for those of you interested in a Clumber Spaniel, please make sure you buy your dog from a reputable and ethical breeder, or a member in good standing with the Clumber Spaniel Club of America (CSCA). Make sure you research the breed and do your homework, as well as screening the breeders thoroughly, especially where health, temperament and pedigrees are concerned. The Clumber Spaniel is not the breed for everyone and anyone, despite what books and various descriptions state. Please make sure that the Clumber Spaniel is indeed a breed that fits your lifestyle and will involve your total commitment where training, socialization and proper overall care is concerned, as well as being a loved, indoor member of the family.
